Upon opening the product I decided to try the reveal, I adjusted it to a 1/8" reveal and could not get the lock to hold the reveal in place. I was very disappointed in the Trim Carpentry Aid and would not recommend it to anyone unless they want a conversation piece. I received the product in as ordered in a timely manner, however that's where the fun ended. I'll probably just throw it in my tool box and keep it around for a conversation piece.
I haven't used the product but, if I have an experience like the previous reviewer's, I'll post a followup. The package arrived well ahead of schedule, the instructions for delivery were followed, nothing was damaged and the price was good. DM
I can't really recommend it. Doesn't really have a target user.I would rather use my combination square or tri-square for 45 degree marks rather than this piece of plastic. If it would stay put where you needed it then it might be a great product. I don't think any DIY'er would be able to figure it out. A short piece of trim can be hand measured easily without this however. On long trim it didn't want to stay put. I am sending this one back. The instructions that came with it were in Spanish and English and were one page of mostly diagrams. Perhaps with a better set of instructions, someone may be better able to put it in practice.I don't think any serious carpenter would need this.
It didn't really hold my tape well to the trim corners. Long trim is where something like this would be a good idea if it worked. This jig is a great idea but in practice it is way to slow and requires constant fiddling with to work correctly. The correct use and understanding behind this devise was not explained. Works best on a short piece of trim.
